I completely relate! I’ve been going through a similar awakening of sorts myself. Yesterday I had this odd thought that even those of us who know why we do what we do are oftentimes made to forget it in this world we live in.
I’ve always known why I write and what I want to create. It’s never been about the fame or the instant gratification. But when I was continually exposed to the world celebrating people who are ‘insta famous’, I sort of lost track, getting caught up in the race to get my work read.
Somewhere along the way, it felt like all I was trying to do was get noticed because I wasn’t even writing what I wanted to. I’ve taken a huge step back from all of it now. I keep asking myself what I really want to talk about, and if the answer is ‘Nothing’ I am starting to respect that as well.
